Sensory issues

Our bodies are constantly bombarded by sensory information – sights, sounds, smells and other stimulation. When we can’t filter or process this information properly, we become over-stimulated or overwhelmed or can miss important sensory input that we need to respond to.

Use these visual resources to help your child understand and express what’s going in with their body and in their thoughts.

Use symbols to show them what to expect when you’re going to places that are likely to trigger sensory issues such as the doctor, dentist, hairdresser or the shops, when trying on and buying clothes and shoes or at special times of the year.
